Where did "Amari" come from?
In the drone world, pilots go by an alias versus our given surnames. "Amari" is an anagram using (most of) the first name and last initial of the famous American F1 driver "Mario Andretti".
More about Amari:
My name is Christian Van Sloun and I am born and raised from Waukee, Iowa. I graduated Iowa State University in 2020 with a degree in Industrial Technology, and 4 months later married my wife, Hannah.
How did you get started with drones?
I first discovered drones from a YouTube video I saw of a DRL (Drone Racing League) race and thought I had to give drone racing a try! I was immediately drawn into the sport by my competitiveness and my passion to build things. I have been racing drone competitively since 2015 with a goal to someday fly for the DRL.
This drive propelled my drone hobby into a career in 2020 by joining the DRL ( The Drone Racing League ) when I won the 2020 DRL SIM Tryouts.
Since then I have widened my drone skills to include ariel photography and videography. I've partnered with several different companies doing contract work. Click on the blue button below to see some of my featured work.
